Collection: East End Press

East End Press specialises in handcrafted, high-quality printed decorations, garlands, cards, and homeware. Designed in Glasgow and handmade in India, with a dedication to craftsmanship and ethical production practices. East End Press create the most exquisite, beautiful and sustainably hand crafted paper objects, made by talented artists. All pieces are made with recycled cotton paper and are hand printed.

The business was started in 2015 by designer and printmaker Ellie Hodesdon, with everything printed, made, and packed in Glasgow. A few years later, and the garland production line had massively outgrown the little screen printing and laser cutting set up Ellie had created in Scotland. The natural place to look to for manufacturing was Jaipur, the home of printmaking, so in 2018 Ellie travelled to India in search of printmakers who could create our products.

She found a family who have now become great friends, and they still create everything that East End Press makes. Every manufacturer within their work chain are fair-trade and independently audited by an international organisation ensuring ethical and responsible supply chains.

The story behind the business

East End Press is a print and design studio based in the west end of Glasgow. We create colourful, handmade paper products which are always made from entirely recycled cotton pulp. Our products are all silk screen printed by hand, creating a luscious, rich look and feel. The brightness of colour and the slight misregistration of print is why we love screen-printing as a process, and what gives our products their unique aesthetic.

We aim to make beautiful, sustainable and fun homeware, stationery and decorations that add something interesting and colourful to your home. Our designs are inspired by children’s book illustrations, folk art, anatomical drawings, food packaging.…just about anything!
