SW Coast is passionate about reducing single use packaging. We are Weymouth’s Refill Shop and run a busy website and as a lifestyle store with a difference, we are fast paced - but fun!

We are looking for a retail assistant to join our friendly small team.

We are looking to take on a confident and enthusiastic person to help in the shop, leading by example, proactively cleaning and store tidying, problem solving, bringing enthusiasm and supporting our customers and staff team. You will be a team player, able to communicate respectfully and professionally and love what we do!

You will be actively promoting the ethos of our  shop to drive its ongoing success.

ABOUT YOU

As part of a dedicated team, you advice customers, manage the checkout, ensure an exciting presentation of products, and ensure order in the store. The customers appreciate your guidance and the team members know that they can count on you. Your contribution is important to provide our customers with a fantastic shopping experience.

CURRENT ROLES

STORE ASSISTANT - Weymouth STORE TEAM

ROLE DESCRIPTION 

This contract is for 15 hours per week and will require availability to work weekdays, evenings and weekends, in accordance with the monthly rota. 

Store Assistant required for 2/3 shifts a week including some Saturdays and Sundays. Some flexibility can be given to work and schedule around your other existing commitments. 

In this varied and hands on role, you’ll work alongside a team that shares a passion for supporting and celebrating each other, making work; feel less like work. Your focus will be on providing exceptional customer service whilst ensuring that our store always looks it’s best. 

You will also: 

  • Maintain outstanding housekeeping  and visual merchandising standards throughout the store, including on the shop floor and behind the scenes. 
  • Provide excellent customer service and operate the cash register, greeting each customer with a smile and ensuring they have a memorable experience. 
  • Be actively involved in our creative merchandising displays and areas around the store including window displays 
  • Unpack and process the weekly delivery of our products to make sure our store is always full of wonderful finds. This does require some heavy lifting.
  • Restock and replenish stock
  • Pick, pack and weigh customer orders for home delivery and click and collect
  • Pick, pack and despatch website orders
  • Ensure cleanliness of store areas and washing up
  • Serve customers and ensure every customer has a positive experience in store. 
  • Contribute towards reaching sales targets by staying informed and connected to product knowledge. 
  • Handwrite signs to give the store and shopping experience a personal touch (we’ll guide you on handwriting style!) 
  • Play a key role in representing SW Coast values and helping the store thrive, all while being the friendly face of our brand in every interaction. 
  • Maintain health, hygiene, and safety standards whilst on shift. 

What we’re looking for 

As a Sales Assistant, you like to put a smile on people’s faces and make sure their day is a little more wonderful than it was before entering the store. You enjoy an active working day, making sure the shelves always look perfect and the customers find what they need. You love that your days never look the same and that there are always new products in the store. You will ideally have a keen interest in sustainable living and your local community. You are creative and have a keen sense of aesthetics, but lifting boxes is no problem for you either - able to lift heavy weights (up to 20Kg).

You will have good numeracy skills - you will be accurate using a calculator and doing basic sums every day.

We’re looking for: 

  • Someone with a kind, helpful, and considerate approach who treats customers and team members with care. 
  • Experience in a similar customer-focused role is desirable.  
  • Flexibility with availability, including the ability to work both weekdays and weekends, as well as early and late shifts. 
  • A proactive approach with a willingness to learn and grow.
  • Effective communicator in the English language, both written and orally.
